Demon Slayer Chapter 125: Demon Slayer Chapter 125: Dawn Approaches - Tanjiro's Pursuit, Nezuko's Sacrifice, and Hantengu's Defeat
Demon Slayer Chapter 125, titled "Dawn Approaches," sees Tanjiro Kamado in a desperate, relentless pursuit of Hantengu's true body, culminating in a critical moment of sacrifice and a decisive blow. The chapter opens with Nezuko and Tanjiro ducking for cover as Genya Shinazugawa furiously rips out a tree by its roots and hurls it at Hantengu. Despite numerous attempts, each tree fails to accurately hit the elusive demon. Nezuko then emerges, attempting a swift swipe at Hantengu, but he evades her and quickly speeds away, highlighting the demon's remarkable agility and the Demon Slayers' mounting frustration in the thrilling narrative of the Demon Slayer manga.
Contemplating his next move, Tanjiro recalls a conversation with Zenitsu Agatsuma about Total Concentration Breathing. He channels air throughout the fibers in his muscles and the blood in his veins, enabling him to blast towards Hantengu in an instant, gaining crucial ground. As Tanjiro attempts to decapitate him, Hantengu rhetorically asks if Tanjiro feels pity for him, then suddenly grows in size and chokes Tanjiro. Genya and Nezuko rush in to help: Genya struggles to pull Tanjiro free, while Nezuko leaps into the air and unleashes her Blood Demon Art. Genya manages to rip off Hantengu's arms, but then panics, fearing he will be burned due to having consumed demon flesh. Hantengu, Nezuko, and Tanjiro then all fall over a treacherous cliff, escalating the peril. While Nezuko lies motionless next to him, Hantengu, now armless with Tanjiro's sword still stuck in his neck, gets up, stating that his regeneration is slowing due to excessive power consumption. He senses human flesh nearby, intending to consume it for recovery. Tanjiro, clinging to a branch on a ledge above, defiantly exclaims he will not allow Hantengu to escape, vowing to chase him "down to the depths of hell." As Hantengu moves towards nearby villagers, he dismisses Nezuko as the "worst nuisance" of the three, underestimating her crucial role in the battle.
Tanjiro falls from the branch and immediately gives chase, intending to use the same speed-boosting technique to quickly catch up to Hantengu. As he races towards the demon, the sword Hotaru Haganezuka had been sharpening is suddenly thrown and lands directly in front of him. Muichiro Tokito, from the ledge above, yells for Tanjiro to use the sword, while Hotaru frantically screams his objections, stating the sword is still unfinished, with Kozo Kanamori attempting to hold him back. Tanjiro thanks Tokito, grabs the newly sharpened sword, and activates Sun Breathing, enveloping the blade in flames. He then uses the powerful move Waltz Flash to catch up to and decisively decapitate Hantengu. This climactic moment in Demon Slayer Chapter 125 marks the ultimate defeat of Hantengu, a victory hard-won through combined efforts, sacrifice, and Tanjiro's unwavering resolve, bringing a dramatic close to the thrilling Swordsmith Village Arc of the Demon Slayer manga.
