Demon Slayer Chapter 200: Demon Slayer Chapter 200: The Price of Victory - Muzan's Demise, Hashiras' Sacrifice, and Tanjiro's Fading Breath
Demon Slayer Chapter 200, titled "The Price of Victory," marks the triumphant, yet heartbreaking, conclusion of the battle against Muzan Kibutsuji as he finally disintegrates with the sunrise, leaving a devastating toll on the Demon Slayers, particularly Tanjiro Kamado, whose fate hangs in the balance. As the sun rises, Muzan disintegrates, and the Demon Slayers exhale in relief, tears streaming down their faces as the battle concludes. Kiriya Ubuyashiki, after ordering immediate medical attention for the wounded, collapses from exhaustion. Gyomei Himejima, refusing help, prioritizes the younger fighters, accepting his own inevitable fate. He sees visions of the children from his temple, who apologize for their past actions, explaining they were trying to protect him. Gyomei accepts their apologies, stating they can move on together, and passes away with a serene smile.
Mitsuri Kanroji awakens in Obanai Iguro's arms, relieved they won but realizing she is dying. Obanai confesses he is also dying, reassuring her she won't be alone. Mitsuri, anguished, apologizes for her perceived uselessness, but Obanai counters, reminding her of their first meeting and how her inherent cheerfulness saved him and inspired many, making him feel like a normal boy. Mitsuri, weeping, expresses her desire to be his bride in their next life, a wish Obanai joyfully accepts, promising to make her happy and protect her. Meanwhile, Sanemi Shinazugawa hallucinates a joyous reunion with Genya and his siblings in heaven but searches for his mother. He senses Shizu Shinazugawa, pulling her hand from darkness, urging her to join her children. She refuses, believing herself undeserving, but Sanemi, smiling, attempts to join her. His father's hand wrenches him away, declaring Sanemi is not ready to die, and the Kakushi are overjoyed to see him regain consciousness.
Inosuke Hashibira also regains consciousness, biting a Kakushi, while Zenitsu Agatsuma, tending to his injuries, declares his love for Nezuko Kamado, calling her his wife. Giyu Tomioka rises, searching for Tanjiro, only to find him kneeling, blade still in hand, bleeding heavily from his severed arm, and no longer breathing. The Kakushi tearfully confirm Tanjiro's death, leaving Giyu in despair. He kneels, grabbing Tanjiro's hand, apologizing for failing to protect him, and for always being the one protected. Unbeknownst to Giyu, Nezuko arrives, tearfully running towards her brother, as the tragic price of their victory becomes devastatingly clear in the climactic Sunrise Countdown Arc of the Demon Slayer manga.
